Prior Learning Assessment
Stratford University gives you the opportunity of applying your learning experiences and work to receive undergraduate college credit through prior learning assessment (PLA).
Credits may apply towards either the lower or upper division credit requirements of the undergraduate degree programs unless otherwise specified in policy or limited by regulation.
By applying your past experience towards a degree you can save money and time.
You may be able to fulfil some elective, interdisciplinary, and/or general education courses by going through the Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) process. To be eligible for PLA credits, you must have submitted your transcripts to the University, and you must complete the remaining general education or elective credits required to earn your degree.
If you’ve previously attended other educational institutions, we offer a variety of services to help you in the admissions process. For example you may have completed the first year of a degree at another university and want to transfer this credit to your degree at the Stratford University. Or you may have completed a diploma, professional or vocational qualification and want to transfer this credit to the Stratford University.

We accept for transfer any credits which are earned from a duly accredited or recognized by the country in which the college is located and for which you earned a C grade or better. You will need to earn additional credits with Stratford University other than those you transfer in to earn your degree.
Eligibility and Requirements
- Courses with other grades may be transferred in at the discretion of the designated department representative.
- Other documents may be required such as the course syllabus or detailed description.
- Any submission of transcripts from an international university for credit transfer need to be submitted for evaluation by an approved international agency.
